This coming Wednesday 9/12/18 @ 1:15PM, I am proud to say I am doing my first podcast! Now mind you before this whole book experience, I heard of a podcast, but I really had no clue what it was. Honestly, it sounds somewhat like a caveman dwelling. “Let’s leave our pod and cast for our fish dinner!” Then again, when I hear the term Linked-in, I think of some medieval treatment involving a chain link fence. Now that brings me to “Twitter” and off course that first thing that comes to mind is Bobby Day’s 1958 version of “Rockin’ Robin” For most of you, it was way before your time!
Low and behold there have been a few technological advances and thankfully I have a paid membership to Geek Squad! Here’s the thing, there’s been a huge learning curve with the launch of this book. I knew nothing about word press, websites, blogs or pod casts. I even need to buy one of those thingies that attach to your phone for credit card purchases. So, if you plan on purchasing a book, please do so on Amazon! If you are coming to an in-person reading or book signing, my preference is for you to please bring cash!
I am grateful to Jed Doherty for inviting me to be on his podcast. He is an amazing advocate for children’s books and reading with your kids and I encourage you to check out his website, www.ReadingWithYourKids.com. While I am on this soapbox, I want to thank all my friends and colleagues who have been so supportive of my attempting to be a “real author”. Obviously, I could never have gotten this far without Gabriela Palomo, my amazing illustrator and Gia Cilento, my honest, direct and trustworthy publisher. (www.madhatterpublishinginc.com) Lastly, I can not forget my wife and children. Amy, Evan and Francie were my inspiration to start this venture and never allowed me to falter when I had self-doubts! Mr. B would never have been a reality without them. I keep returning to Alex’s poem “Life is Like a Roller Coaster” My Journey has had highs and lows and twists and turns but the anticipation of this ride is filled with excitement. I’m not sure exactly where it will stop since I’ve written twelve more Mr. B stories. The holidays and new year have brought some very unexpected greetings. “There’s the author!” How’s the next Dr. Seuss?” The best one was 2 nights ago when a grandfather sitting at the table and knew about the book asked me, “When did I think my book would surpass JK Rowling’s Harry Potter?” I said, “Soon. Universal is already working on the Mr. B theme park and the Mr. B plush doll and lunch box are already in production!” As we say during many of our holidays. “From my mouth to G-d’s ears!” May all of you have a happy healthy and sweet year!
